A Tulum Hotel With a Private Plunge Pool: Our Three Suites With Water on the Terrace

Quick answer

If you want a Tulum hotel with a private plunge pool, we have three suites built around one: the Cenote Master Suite (plunge pool on a terrace one flight up, facing the cenote), the Jaguar Suite (Cenote Suite Lower, plunge pool on a deck level with the cenote) and the Rattan Suite (Garden Suite Lower, beach side, plunge pool out in the planting). We're on the Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila in South Tulum, we take guests 12 and over, and breakfast is included.

Three of our suites have a private plunge pool right outside the door: the Cenote Master Suite, the Jaguar Suite and the Rattan Suite. Two sit on the jungle side by our natural cenote. One sits on the beach side, facing green instead of sea.

We're a small place on the Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila, in South Tulum. Twenty-two suites, no two mornings the same. A plunge pool changes what a morning looks like here, so it's worth knowing which suite has one before you book.

Which suites have a private plunge pool?

The Cenote Master Suite, the Jaguar Suite and the Rattan Suite. Here's how they differ.

Suite Side Where the plunge pool is What's around it
Cenote Master Suite Jungle side On the terrace, one flight up Faces the cenote, canopy overhead
Jaguar Suite (Cenote Suite Lower) Jungle side Out on the deck Level with the cenote, living room indoors
Rattan Suite (Garden Suite Lower) Beach side Out in the planting Faces garden rather than sea

If a plunge pool is the reason you're booking, these are the three to look at. Weighing a different suite? Write to us first and we'll tell you exactly what's on its terrace.

The Cenote Master Suite: the pool one flight up

The Cenote Master Suite puts its plunge pool on a raised terrace that looks onto the cenote, with the canopy closing in overhead. Being one floor up gives you a little height over the water and more privacy from the paths below. It's the suite we'd point a couple to if they plan to spend long afternoons at home: a swim, a book, the cenote below, nobody passing at eye level.

The Jaguar Suite: level with the cenote

The Jaguar Suite is the ground-floor cenote suite. Its plunge pool sits out on the deck, and the deck sits level with the cenote, so you step from the living room to the pool to the edge of the water without stairs. There's a proper living room indoors, which matters on a hot midday when you want shade and a sofa between swims.

We wrote more about both cenote suites on our cenote page.

The Rattan Suite: beach side, but facing green

The Rattan Suite is the one to choose if you want a plunge pool and the beach side of the hotel. It faces the garden rather than the sea, and the plunge pool sits out in the planting, so the view from the water is leaves, not waves. You're on the side of the property where the sand is, which suits people who want the sea for the morning and their own water for the afternoon.

Beach side or jungle side, the choice is yours.

What about the beachfront suites?

Our beachfront suites trade a plunge pool for the sand itself. The Robinson Master Suite sits under a palapa seven metres up, with a soaking tub indoors and a king bed that rolls out to the terrace. The Odyssey and Compass suites step straight off the terrace onto the beach, with the tub indoors. Sunrise and Pelican are one level up, with a hammock facing the sea. If you'd rather swim in the Caribbean than in your own pool, start with our beachfront suites.

How a day goes in a plunge pool suite

Most guests in these suites stop planning by day two. Breakfast is included. After that, it's yours. Some people walk over to the private beach, where towels and reef-safe sunscreen are laid out and the team clears sargassum every day. Others don't leave the terrace until dinner.

A few things help:

  • Spa on the terrace: massages and facials can be booked at the spa, somewhere on the property, or on your own terrace. With a plunge pool a step away, the terrace is the one to ask for.
  • Dinner at NÜ: NÜ Tulum is our jungle-side restaurant, dinner only, and it has been in the Michelin Guide three years running. From the cenote suites it's a short walk through the planting.
  • Bikes at the door: shared bikes are there whenever you want to see more of the beach road.
  • Wildlife: we're in a protected natural area, so you may share the terrace with the odd visitor from the jungle. Leave it be and it'll move along.

We keep things quiet here. No schedules unless you want one. If you'd like a few days built around rest, movement or the jungle, ask us about Voyage Within.

Common questions

Which suites at your Tulum hotel have a private plunge pool?

Three suites are built around a private plunge pool: the Cenote Master Suite (on a terrace one flight up, facing the cenote), the Jaguar Suite (on a deck level with the cenote) and the Rattan Suite (beach side, out in the garden planting).

Do your beachfront suites have plunge pools?

Our beachfront suites are built around the sand rather than a pool. The Robinson Master Suite has a soaking tub under a seven-metre palapa, and the Odyssey and Compass suites step straight onto the beach with the tub indoors. If you want a plunge pool on the beach side, choose the Rattan Suite.

Can I book a massage by my plunge pool?

Yes. Spa treatments can be booked at the spa, elsewhere on the property, or on your own terrace.

Are children allowed in the plunge pool suites?

We welcome guests aged 12 and over throughout the hotel, including all three plunge pool suites.

Is breakfast included?

Yes. Breakfast is included with your stay, and we can work around gluten-free, dairy-free and other dietary needs if you tell us when you book.
