Beach side or jungle side, the choice is yours. It's the first thing we ask when someone writes in about a stay, and it shapes your days more than the size of the room does.
We sit on Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila in South Tulum. Our beach side opens onto the Caribbean. Our jungle side holds the natural cenote, Tulum Beach's largest pool, and NÜ, the restaurant where we serve dinner. Twenty-two suites, no two mornings the same.
The short answer
Pick the beach side if waking up to the sea is the whole point of the trip. Pick the jungle side if you'd rather wake up to green, swim in the cenote's company, and walk a few steps to dinner. Neither side shuts you out of the other. Every suite includes our private beach.
What the beach side is like
Our beachfront suites put the sand at your feet. Here's what you're choosing between:
Beachfront Master Suite: on the sand, under a palapa seven metres up. The king-size bed rolls out to the terrace, and the ocean starts there. This is the one for a honeymoon or a milestone.
Odyssey and Compass Suites (Beachfront Lower): ground level. You step off the terrace straight onto the sand. The tub is indoors, which is nice after a salty day.
Sunrise and Pelican Suites (Beachfront Upper): one level up, with a hammock on the terrace and the sea straight ahead. Good if you like to watch the water rather than be in it.
Rattan Suite (Garden Suite Lower): beach side, but facing green. It keeps its plunge pool out in the planting. Choose it if you want the beach a short walk away and some shade for the afternoon.
The sea side comes with one honest caveat. Sargassum seaweed reaches this whole coast at times, and nobody can predict when. Our team clears the beach every day, and towels and reef-safe sunscreen are set out for you.
What the jungle side is like
Our jungle side is cooler in feel, more enclosed, and closer to the cenote, the big pool and NÜ.
Jaguar Suite (Cenote Suite Lower): level with the cenote. A living room indoors, a plunge pool out on the deck, and a daybed at the water's edge.
Oasis Master Suite (Cenote Master Suite): facing the cenote, one flight up. Plunge pool on the terrace, canopy overhead, and a king bed that rolls outside.
Amulet Suite (Jungle Suite Lower): ground level, deep in the planting, with a long living area and the jungle right outside it.
Voyager Suite (Jungle Suite Upper): above the pools. The bed rolls onto the terrace and the green closes in.
Ka'an, Toucan and Sunset Suites (Signature Suite Upper): up in the canopy. Each has a mezzanine lounge and a bed that rolls out.
Mangrove Suite (Signature Suite Lower): looks onto jungle garden, in shade most of the day, with the canopy for a view. The pick for anyone who doesn't love strong sun.
Parrot, Hammock and Cacao (Jungle View Rooms): three rooms over the pools, each with a private terrace in the trees.
And the garden rooms
If you'd rather have plants than sea outside, but want the sand paths underfoot, look at the four Garden View Rooms (Coconut, Areca, Tropical and Parasol), each with its own deck onto the garden. The Garden Suite Upper sits one floor up, with a terrace level with the tops of the plants.
What doesn't change with the side
Breakfast, the spa, yoga, our ceremonies and the concierge are the same wherever you sleep. You can book a massage at the spa, somewhere on the property, or on your own terrace. Shared bikes wait at the door. And we welcome guests aged 12 and over on both sides.
